There is wildlife everywhere you look in Florida! The variety of wildlife
I see on each visit never ceases to amaze me. Even in suburban neighborhoods
like my folk's house in Tarpon Springs, I routinely see flocks of Ibis
grazing through their lawn, large herons strolling majestically by,
nesting ospreys feeding their young, big black snakes sunning themselves,
and manatee bobbing around in Spring Bayou in the center of town.
Some of my family members kayaking among the manatee right in the center of town in Tarpon Springs. One of the reasons you see so much wildlife in Florida is that there are so many wild areas left in the State and so many species that either live or pass through Florida on their seasonal migrations. This makes for a whole lot of biodiversity and a whole bunch of vacation choices. I have found that even the most modest of State Parks has lots to offer. Florida has built much of its tourism around observing this wildlife. Below are links to all of the wildlife I have seen. I will have information on where you can visit many of these animals on my "Town" page on a town by town basis. I also have great link from the University of Florida on my "Resources" page with information on Florida Wildlife which has a useful A-Z list of animals and what certain animals are doing on a month-by-month basis. Please bear with me as I develop this website. I hope to have more video and facts on each animal very soon! Manatee Birds Fish Reptiles and Amphibians |
